  1. Hi Carl,
    Happy New Year!

Do you have any suggestions on how one might best go about selling an original 1957 Les Paul Black Beauty? I’ve decided to sell mine but would sure like to sell it to an individual rather than through consigners and auction houses (such as Christie’s).

Is the lefty you are holding in the photo an original?
    Regards,
    Gerald

  2. Hi Gerald, that’s my 1975 Lefty Anniversary Les Paul Custom in the pic.
You did see my blog on this lefty ‘57 right?

Your ‘57 should do well depending on condition & originality. To sell to an individual without using an auction house or consignment service I’d suggest eBay.
I’d notify collectors, rare & vintage dealers prior & during the sale.
I’d also suggest using a reserve along with strict & detailed selling/ payment terms & conditions.
The more detailed info the better- description, provenance, photos etc. Send me a link if you do & good luck!

  3. Thanks very much for your input, Carl.

I’ve been reluctant to try eBay but will give it a hard investigation. The guitar is all original execept for the pickguard. Gruhn’s appraised it and said from the photos it appears to be in ‘very good’ condition. There is some belt buckle wear on the back but otherwise, the guitar and its original case are very nice. I’ve not played it for about 5 years but all the electrics worked at that time. I don’t have a website on which to post photos but can probably get a friend to post the photos on his. Then I can send you a link. Or I can email you photos if you don’t mind sending me an email address.

    Best wishes to you,
    Gerald
